THE HYDROFOIL SPECIALIST: ZR CONCEPT

The ZR Concept company owned by Yvan Ravussin and Vincent Zalonghi was responsible for the design of the foils and appendices. Experts in composite materials, they are the main foil suppliers to the 60 foot Open multihull circuit.

The foils were manufactured by ZR Concept. “The hydrofoil as such is a big puzzle, involving the manufacture and assembly of no less than 150 different components. Each component is the subject of complicated calculations, largely in an effort to shave a few extra grams off the total weight of the boat,” Yvan Ravussin comments. “Never before have I manufactured such complicated components, but this boat will certainly mark an innovation in the field. We all hope that the thousands of hours that have been invested in the development of this boat will pay dividends on the water. This really is haute couture in sailing! »

Created in 1995 by the two partners, Vincent Zanlonghi and Yvan Ravussin, the ZR Concept company specializes in the manufacture of customized masts and rigging for boats and in the production of components in composites, aluminium and stainless steel, together with fittings for shipbuilding and industrial use.

ZR Concept has been involved in the building of ultra-high technology racing boats. Vincent Zanlonghi and Yves Ravussin have for instance contributed to the construction of the following boats: Primagaz – Laurent Bourgnon, TIM – Giovanni Soldini, Brossard – Yvan Bourgnon, Foncia – Alain Gautier, Orange – Stève Ravussin, Sodebo – Thomas Coville, Géant Casino – Michel Desjoyaux, Belgacom – Jean-Luc Nélias, Gitana X & XI – Fred Le Peutrec, Temenos – Dominique Wavre
